Asia Shipping Notes — Read Before You Ship

Asia is 48+ countries with as many different customs regimes — from Singapore's near-duty-free port to China's complex regulatory environment and Saudi Arabia's strict product standards. Three trade blocs dominate: RCEP covers China, Japan, South Korea and ASEAN; ASEAN has a free trade area across 10 Southeast Asian nations; and the GCC is a customs union between the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman with a common 5% external tariff. Preferential rates under all three apply only to intra-bloc trade — Nigerian goods are subject to each country's external tariff. Some destinations are off-limits due to international sanctions: Iran, Syria and North Korea cannot be served. Afghanistan, Yemen and Iraq have ongoing conflict and limited logistics access. Saudi Arabia and the UAE require SASO and ESMA product certification for many categories — we can advise on what's needed. Message us with your exact destination country and city before shipping and we'll confirm the customs picture, realistic duty estimate and best routing.

The Benin City → Asia Corridor

Nigeria to Asia. Two ways to ship. One team to handle it.

The Benin City to Asia corridor is one of our most important international routes. Asia is Nigeria's largest trading partner by continent — China imports, India oil, and the UAE serves as the re-export hub for much of West African trade. From our Benin City hub we coordinate shipments in both directions: exports to Asian buyers, and returns to Nigerian importers sending samples, replacements or personal items to their suppliers.

You choose the speed. Air freight reaches every Asian destination in 3 to 8 business days — Middle East hubs like Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi are fastest at 3 to 5 days, while China, India and Southeast Asia typically take 4 to 6 days, and Japan, Korea and Central Asia take 5 to 8 days. Sea freight moves containers, vehicles and bulk cargo in 20 to 45 days, routed through Asia's largest ports — Jebel Ali, Singapore, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Busan, Port Klang, Colombo.

Every shipment is tracked, every price is agreed upfront on WhatsApp, and every delivery is confirmed. We handle the Nigerian export documentation, coordinate with customs brokers across Asia, and deliver to your recipient's address — whether that's a business in Guangzhou, a family home in Dubai, or a corporate office in Tokyo.

02 — How We Price

What affects the cost of shipping from Benin City across Asia?

Every shipment is unique, so every quote is customised. Here are the four things that determine your rate. Message us and we'll give you an exact figure in minutes.

FACTOR 01

Weight & Volume

Air freight is priced by chargeable weight. Sea freight is priced by volume (cubic metres) or container size. We measure and quote accordingly.

FACTOR 02

Air vs Sea Freight

Air is faster and priced higher. Sea is slower but far cheaper for heavy or bulky items. We'll advise which suits your shipment best.

FACTOR 03

Destination & Import Taxes

GCC countries charge 5% common external tariff plus VAT. China, India and other Asian markets vary widely — from 0% (Singapore) to 150% (India on some goods).

FACTOR 04

Volume & Frequency

One-off senders pay standard rates. Businesses that ship regularly across Asia get discounted account rates and monthly invoicing.

Get an exact rate for your Asian shipment in minutes.

Send us a message with your item description, weight and Asian destination. We'll reply with a firm air or sea price and a realistic duty estimate — no obligation, no hidden fees.

04 — Customs & Trade Regimes

We handle the paperwork so your shipment clears Asian customs.

Asia has three major trade blocs and 48+ national customs systems. We know the difference and prepare the right documentation for each.

Nigerian Export Documentation

We prepare and file the documents required to legally export from Nigeria, including the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, and any necessary certificates.

  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • Bill of lading (sea) or air waybill (air)
  • Certificate of origin where required
  • NXP form and Nigerian customs documentation
  • Export clearance with Nigerian Customs Service

GCC Customs Union (UAE, Saudi, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman)

The GCC operates a customs union with a 5% common external tariff on most goods. Goods clear at the first point of entry — usually Jebel Ali in Dubai — and can then move freely to other member states.

  • GCC common external tariff (5% on most goods)
  • UAE Federal Customs Authority / Dubai Customs
  • Saudi ZATCA (Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority)
  • SASO certification for Saudi Arabia
  • ESMA certification for UAE

Chinese & East Asian Clearance

China has strict import rules with complex tariff categories. Japan and South Korea have similarly rigorous procedures. Each country requires its own documentation and product compliance certification.

  • China Customs (GACC) declaration
  • China Compulsory Certification (CCC) for many products
  • Japan Customs declaration (NACCS)
  • Korea Customs Service declaration (UNI-PASS)
  • Korean KC certification for electronics

South & Southeast Asian Clearance

India, ASEAN and other South and Southeast Asian countries each have their own customs regime. Tariff levels vary widely — from near-zero (Singapore) to over 100% (India on certain goods).

  • Indian CBIC declaration and Bill of Entry
  • ASEAN customs declarations (ATIGA Form D for intra-ASEAN)
  • BIS certification for India
  • Indonesian SNI, Thai TISI and Malaysian SIRIM standards
  • Singapore TradeNet (near-duty-free, only GST applies)

09 — FAQ

Benin City to Asia shipping questions.

Everything you need to know before shipping from Nigeria to any Asian country.

01 Which Asian countries do you deliver to from Benin City?

We deliver to all 48+ Asian countries and territories. Coverage includes East Asia (China, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia), Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, Timor-Leste), South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Afghanistan), Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan) and West Asia / Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Cyprus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia). Some destinations have sanctions or restricted access — Iran, Syria, North Korea, Yemen and Afghanistan have significant complexity. Message us with the exact destination and we'll confirm current feasibility.

02 How do I send a package from Benin City to an Asian country?

Simply message us on WhatsApp at 0813 094 7747 with your pickup address in Benin City, the destination country and city, and your item description and approximate weight. We'll recommend air or sea freight and reply with a price. Our rider collects from your door, and we handle all documentation, customs clearance and delivery to your recipient.

03 How much does it cost to send a package from Benin City to an Asian country?

Every shipment is quoted individually because the rate depends on the weight and dimensions of your item, the chosen mode (air or sea), your pickup location in Benin City, the destination country and city, and any applicable customs duty and taxes. Air freight is faster and priced higher. Sea freight is more cost-effective for heavy or bulky cargo. China, UAE and India have the highest volume of traffic from Nigeria, so rates to Guangzhou, Dubai and Mumbai are often the most competitive. Message us on WhatsApp with your item details and destination and we'll send you an exact, no-obligation price within minutes.

04 How long does delivery from Benin City to Asia take?

Air freight from Benin City to Asia typically takes 3 to 8 business days door-to-door, depending on the destination. Middle East destinations — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh, Jeddah, Istanbul — usually arrive in 3 to 5 days. China, India, Singapore and Southeast Asia typically take 4 to 6 days. Japan, South Korea and Central Asia take 5 to 8 days. Sea freight takes 20 to 45 days depending on the destination port — Jebel Ali, Singapore, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Busan, Port Klang and Colombo are the main hubs. Express documents can arrive in 2 to 4 business days.

05 Do you handle Chinese customs clearance?

Yes. China has strict import rules for personal shipments. We coordinate with Chinese customs brokers and prepare the required documentation under China's Harmonized System codes. China charges import duty (0–50% depending on the category) plus 13% VAT on most commercial goods. Personal parcels under CNY 1,000 (about USD 140) have a simplified clearance process. Commercial shipments require a Chinese business license and possibly a foreign trade operator registration. We advise you upfront on the requirements.

06 Do you handle UAE, Saudi and GCC customs clearance?

Yes. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) includes the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, with a common external tariff of 5% on most goods. Each country has its own customs authority — UAE Federal Customs Authority, Saudi ZATCA, Qatar GTA, Kuwait Customs, Bahrain Customs Affairs, Oman Customs. We coordinate with local brokers in each. Saudi Arabia and the UAE have additional requirements — SASO certification for many products in Saudi, and ESMA certification in the UAE. We guide you through what's needed.

07 Do you handle Indian customs clearance?

Yes. India has a complex import regime. We coordinate with Indian customs brokers (CBIC — Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs) and prepare the required documentation. India charges Basic Customs Duty (0–150% depending on the category) plus IGST (5–28%). Personal shipments under INR 5,000 may qualify for relief. Gold, silver and certain other items have specific rules. We advise you upfront on the requirements for your specific goods.

08 What is RCEP and does it affect my shipment?

RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) is the world's largest free trade agreement, covering 15 Asia-Pacific countries — China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and the 10 ASEAN member states. RCEP preferential tariffs apply only to goods originating within member states. Nigerian goods don't qualify, so they're subject to each country's standard external tariff. However, RCEP has harmonised customs procedures and rules of origin across the region, which can make clearance more predictable.

09 What is ASEAN and does it affect my shipment?

ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) has 10 member states — Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei. ASEAN has a free trade area with an ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) and a Common Effective Preferential Tariff. Like other trade blocs, preferential rates only apply to goods originating within ASEAN. Nigerian goods are subject to each country's external tariff, which varies significantly — Singapore is essentially duty-free, while Indonesia and Thailand have higher tariffs.

10 What is GCC and does it affect my shipment?

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is a customs union between the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. It has a common external tariff of 5% on most goods. Goods that clear at the first GCC point of entry (typically Jebel Ali in Dubai) can then move freely to other member states. Nigerian goods are subject to the 5% common external tariff, plus VAT in countries that have it — UAE 5%, Saudi 15%, Bahrain 10%, Oman 5%. Qatar and Kuwait currently have no VAT.

11 Do you ship to Iran, Syria and North Korea?

No. Iran, Syria and North Korea are subject to comprehensive international sanctions that make commercial shipping impossible for most operators. We do not currently serve these countries. We also cannot process shipments containing sanctioned goods. If you need to reach clients in these countries, contact us to discuss alternative arrangements on a case-by-case basis — but options are extremely limited.

12 What items cannot be shipped from Nigeria to Asian countries?

Restrictions vary by country but common prohibitions include narcotics, firearms and ammunition, explosives, counterfeit goods, certain agricultural products, meat and dairy products, fresh produce, some medicines, endangered wildlife products, and hazardous materials. Some countries have additional restrictions — China restricts certain books and media, Saudi Arabia prohibits alcohol and pork products, and Japan and South Korea have strict rules on agricultural imports. Message us before shipping anything unusual and we will advise you.

13 Can I send food items from Benin City to Asian countries?

Yes, with country-specific limitations. Packaged, shelf-stable foods such as dried pepper, egusi, ogbono, garri, smoked fish, packaged snacks and non-perishable Nigerian groceries are typically allowed in most Asian countries. Some countries have stricter rules — Japan, South Korea and Singapore have very strict food import controls, while China and UAE are more moderate. Fresh meat, dairy and fresh produce are restricted almost everywhere. We'll advise on packaging and declaration requirements for your destination.

14 Can I ship a car from Benin City to an Asian country?

Yes. Vehicles are shipped via roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) or in a container by sea freight. Transit time is typically 25 to 45 days to Asia depending on the destination port. Import regulations vary significantly — most Asian countries impose high duties on imported vehicles (Japan and South Korea protect their domestic industries, China has strict rules on used vehicles, and Middle East countries have specific registration requirements). Contact us for a vehicle shipping quote and guidance for your specific destination.

15 Can I send commercial cargo and bulk goods to Asian countries?

Yes. We handle commercial shipments of any size — air freight for time-sensitive stock, less than container loads (LCL) and full container loads (FCL) by sea freight for bulk cargo. China, India and UAE are Nigeria's largest trading partners in Asia. We work with importers, distributors and e-commerce sellers who ship regularly to Asia. Ask about our business account rates.

16 Is my package insured on Asian routes?

Yes. Every shipment is handled with care, and we offer cargo insurance on request. Coverage is comprehensive across all Asian destinations. For valuable items, declare the correct value when booking so you are fully covered against loss or damage in transit.

17 Can I track my shipment to Asia?

Yes. Every shipment on this route is assigned a tracking reference and you receive status updates by WhatsApp or phone from pickup, through Nigerian customs, during transit, and after destination-country customs clearance until final delivery. Send your tracking ID to 0813 094 7747 on WhatsApp for a real-time update.

18 Do you offer business accounts for regular shipping to Asia?

Yes. If you ship regularly from Nigeria to one or more Asian countries — for e-commerce, distribution, corporate supply or retail — we offer business account rates, scheduled pickups and monthly invoicing. Ask us about the business account when you message.

19 What payment methods do you accept?

We accept bank transfers, cash on pickup and online payments. Corporate clients can request invoicing and monthly account billing.

20 What are your working hours?

Our Benin City office is open Monday to Sunday, 8:00am to 8:00pm. WhatsApp and phone support is available 24/7 for urgent shipments and enquiries.
